FOUNDER'S NOTE

I launched Curated for Equality in the summer of 2020. With a global pandemic putting the calls for social justice front and center, I found myself with a deep desire to create change. I began asking myself, "in a world where big business reigns, how do we as consumers, designers and buyers take our power back and make a greater difference?"

In 2008, I worked as a field organizer for the Democratic National Committee’s campaign to elect President Barack Obama. It was a truly life changing experience that taught me the power of collective action. As our former President once said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Remembering how deeply those words inspired me, I began brainstorming how I would respond to the call to action.

I knew that in order to create real change, we needed to build economic opportunity in marginalized communities. If you’ve heard of the “gender wage gap” you know that women are on average, paid less than men for doing the same work. For women of color, the pay gap is even wider. As a Latina American woman, I quickly identified this as my area of focus. That’s why Curated for Equality is a one-stop-shop for female founded brands. I felt that by making it a priority to purchase from brands founded by women of all backgrounds, we can greatly impact the economic tools that women have to create change in their communities across the United States.

All other things aside, I have just always loved fashion! I was overjoyed when I discovered the amazing brands that I am now able to carry in this store. At Curated for Equality, you can rest assured that every product has been carefully selected for quality and attention to detail. I hope you love what we have to offer as much as I do!
